What is E-E-A-T?
E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness. Google uses the concept in its guidelines for human quality raters; it is not a single ranking factor and not a measurable score.
The Quality Rater Guidelines describe how external raters should assess the quality of search results. Their ratings do not change rankings directly but help Google evaluate its own systems. Trustworthiness is described there as the most important of the four parts.
Google’s guidance on helpful content asks the same questions: Is it clear who created the content? Does it show first-hand experience or only summarised knowledge? Would you trust the page for an important decision?
For AI answers E-E-A-T is often cited to explain why certain sources get cited. That is plausible but not proven under controlled conditions: language model providers do not disclose which signals they use to weight sources. Anyone selling E-E-A-T as a GEO factor with fixed point values is selling a guess.
What it means for your website
In practice that means naming authors, showing your own measurements, photos or case examples rather than summarising others, making contact details and legal notice easy to find, and backing claims with sources. These points can be checked on your own page; an E-E-A-T score cannot.
